hey guess what. if i can do it by myself, i can do it in a group. doing a group project only shows people how to follow the example of modern society and ride the coat tails of others.

they read the Powerpoint notes to you for 2-3 hours each night...People who do that (and there are way too many of them in the business world, too) should be left out in the desert to be eaten by hyenas. Is it possible this is a (forgive me) feature of Florida, Arizona, and other similar states? Maybe it's FAU that's a joke? I know people who take night classes here in MA and at least in the science/math/tech courses they work pretty hard and apparently that's the norm. Anyone, everyone knows that Business students are lazy.

I made the "mistake" of trying for a minor in Business and I was excused for a week's worth of Micro-Econ classes when the professor determined he had to "refresh" the Bus-adders on how to interpret those Supply/Demand charts, once he detected I was the only one giving correct answers at the onset and then asked "You're and Engineer, aren't you?" I eventually gave up on that Minor and ended up with a Minor in Math, since I took a Computer Engineering specialty (all those logic courses contributed to a Minor I wasn't interested in originally).

Democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude.

and at least in the science/math/tech courses they work pretty hard and apparently that's the norm. That's just it... there are almost no science/math/tech courses in my degree track... despite the fact that it's Management Information Systems. There have been no science classes at all. As far as math, there was a Statistics course, and technically the degree requires a Calculus class, but my engineering degree had enough math to more than satisfy the requirements. The most intensive class I've taken to date, Quantitative Methods for Business, was basically just applied statistics. When I went through orientation, the advisor I saw actually had me dreading that class because I hadn't used any calculus since I graduated in 1994, and she made it out to be some kind of applied business calculus mixed with statistics and said that 75% of students took the class at least twice. It turned out to be a joke, and every semester they send me e-mails congratulating me on being one of the few students in recent history who got an A in the class, and recruiting me to be a tutor. The MIS classes I've taken so far included an "Intro to Computing" class that I tested out of, an "Intro to Programming" class I got a waiver on based on several years of software development experience, a Microsoft Excel/Access class that I practically taught (I spent most of the class going around the room, helping the professor answer students' questions), and a Database Analysis and Design course that I crushed (I ended up with something like a 96% when the class average was in the 70s). I'm currently taking an Information Security class that uses the Security+ exam prep guide as a textbook, and a System Analysis & Design class where I have the latest group project I was bitching about. The last two MIS classes I have left to take are Security Management and Computer Forensics - Forensics is probably about the most technical class there is in the track. I can't remember when an exam (including finals) took me more than 30 minutes, or I got less than a 90%. And even then, there's either a curve or extra credit. In my System Analysis & Design class right now, I have a higher than 100% grade. I'm seriously considering asking the teacher to just give me the A and let me skip the rest of the semester. |

The Nursing Program that I am in is far more intense than my Masters Program. The precision of detail that we have to know vs. the "art" of
psychotherapy is very apparent.
So I have seen the good and the bad, but I do agree that learning to deal with the bad helps you to learn how to deal with the bad in the real world.
The despicable, vile, traitorous, democrat motherfuckers in the house just rammed through cap and trade which is going to kill jobs, increase costs for
everyone on everything, and is yet another nail in America's coffin. If you voted for a Democrat or Obama your hand is on the hammer's handle and yes,
I damn you. Borofin, June 26, 2009.

Scientific (No offense intended to its adherents, I think psychology only falls under this category in the loosest sense. The most scientific psychological
experiments tend to also be the least ethical, and thus are rarely done) and seriously mathematical degrees can be challenging. Liberal Arts and business
classes are simply practice in bullshitting, which when you consider what you have to do with those degrees, makes perfect sense.

Check out the 'console game discussion' thread in Entertainment. Some good suggestions in there.
