In my local news today
This one is a bit convoluted when you dig into the details, though. Original sentence was appealed, and then later new trials were ordered due to "impermissible testimony". The rape victims (which were ages 3,5,8 at the time of the rape) didn't want to go through testifying again as teenagers/adults, so he got a lesser sentence. Disagreement over whether the sentence was to be served concurrently or consecutively(sp?). Bottom line, he's out in 20.
This is a perfect example of why you see ridiculous numbers/lengths on sentences in the US, Creac. This guy got 700 years, and out in 20. Apparently we have to get over a millenia to actually mean "life" these days.Twenty years ago, it looked as if William H. Evans, convicted of beating, gagging and raping three children, would never walk the streets again. But just a few days ago, the Allentown man, who was once sentenced to more than 700 years in prison, was released
