They've been totally revamped, and btw, I had much the same experience with them. They fired that CEO and then put him, iirc, in jail, and fined them several million dollars about 3 1/2 years ago.

Since then, they've seemed to have gotten their shit together. The eHealth and Spectrum products are pretty outstanding. They're pricey, but cheap by comparison with Open View or Tivoli, and much easier to set up and maintain. They also mesh very well with System Center if you use that product.

The eHealth stuff gives you a good look at performance, and Spectrums real time monitoring is great. The autoscan topology generator is fantastic, and better than any other product we've used (we're using it to monitor an enterprise with 1100+ servers, 64k desktops, and 8k+ network devices).

We looked hard at Tivoli and Open View as well, and CA won out with the engineers that will be using it.
