part of me thinks this is awesome and wants to have fun, but it also seems like a daunting task to grind to the max level again, especially if they include
hell levels again lol

I remember there being an EQ server emulator like 5 years ago, but I guess it disappeared. In fact, here is a screenshot I took from that emulator of a Ogre
Cleric named "Healyewgud" in full Ethereal Mist armor :p Points if you know the zone!
Anyway, while I think classic EQ efforts are interesting, it just isn't possible to capture the feeling of exploring Norrath for the first time. It's something I don't think we'll ever find again because all new MMO's either come with maps, or mapping efforts take like a week - whereas for a lot of us EQ was our first MMO, and the world was savage and unknown. (this all from the perspective of someone who started playing EQ back in 1999 of course ;) |

EQ seemed so huge when I first started. Everfrost was my little nook in the game for quite some time. Travelling into blackburrow was edgy and daring. At level
14 I remember spending an entire afternoon trying to find my way, on foot, to freeport. You grab every safe haven that you can on a journey that is unknown
like that. I remember coming up on the bridge between EK and NK for the first time. It was good to see all of the people gathered there. To make it that far
was an accomplishment. Someone called me Zarr for the very first time on that bridge. It stuck ever since. From there, I had to leave that safe haven and
explore further. You just can't recreate that.

that this danger does lie in logic, not in imagination."

Yea, i remember the other EQ emulator, but if i recall, sony made them shut down.
Hopefully this one will stay up and will get a lot of people playing. **EDIT** Went to the site and checked out the screenshots. And i cant believe they are using the super old ui!

I figured Steamfront would be the first guess - yes those are gnomish buildings, but not Steamfront :)
