I'm pretty sure he means God of War, which is far inferior to NG in terms of gameplay, at least imo. I've never found GoW's control to be nearly as refined, and is far more watered down. The emphasis is on presentation, as it's quite possible to button mash through most(not all) of the game. GoW has a comprehensible storyline though, while NG is pretty much just unlimited over the top Ninja fighting demon BS... but hey, some people like that sorta thing.

Of course they may have sacrificed gameplay for more gore this time around in NG 2, but if that's the case then they're pretty much just kicking NG's fanbase in the balls. NG's greatest selling point to its fans is the enemy AI which strives to make you its bitch.
