You know, you'd think they could work around the transfer rate problem. I've thought a while about getting a bunch of cheap Compact Flash cards and CF-to-SATA adapters and doing like 6 drive RAID-0 and seeing how that works out. Even if you can only squeeze maybe 20MB/s out of each card, that should put you somewhere around 100MB/s with nearly 0 access time. And it would be relatively cheap as long as you used the lower capacity cards, maybe 6x 1 or 2gig. The problem would be having the cards die from excessive write cycles. But I'd probably use it to run games off of or something that isn't very write intensive.

Either that, or sometimes I think about buying an I-RAM. It's a shame Gigabyte never followed through to make an SATA-II version that supported more than 4gig.
