I would like the ability to have Kudos actually affect my real life success. Plus, I think you should be able to Kudos your own threads. If you couldn't,
who would Kudos mine?

It's combination of different things. The last one is the secret sauce, so I can't tell you how that works (couldn't if I wanted to, I have no
idea!). Basically things that give you kudos are things like having a topic that has a lot of kudos, having friends in your friends list, leaving comments on
other people's profiles, posting on different boards, inviting new members, etc.
