If it takes everything that I have left in this world, I will find a way to prevent people, who are 84 years old, getting away with vehicular homicide, by saying they were "disoriented".
That's what the lady, who crossed the median and was driving ont he wrong side of the road, basically used as a defense for this accident. Quote:Someway, somehow, I will keep this from happening again, and someway, somehow, I don't give a shit how old the woman was, she will pay for taking the life of someone - ineptitude isn't a valid excuse. Michelle didn't deserve to go out because some old lady, who shouldn't be driving to begin with, was "disoriented"...The old lady never should have been on the road to begin with. I'm so angry and hurt right now - Michelle was a sister to me, we talked about nearly everything, to see such a good person go out like this.... I'll miss you Michelle...but I won't let your death go unanswered. Jason www.keepersofthefaith.org

Yes she was very talented. Over the last 2 years she really built up that photography business...
I don't know what to say about this... I talked to her quite often but hadn't in the last month or two... |

People that old shouldnt be on the road. /sigh Though, I'm not sure making the old lady "pay" is the best thing. Keeping her off the road, is a start, however.

I expect the law to arrest and prosecute this woman for some form of vehicular homicide.
Beyond that, yeah - pushing for the aged to have more strict requirements to drive than younger people, I'm all for. Sure, it borders on discrimination, but be honest - older people's reflexes aren't as good, and using the "disoriented" bullshit as an excuse is all the more reason. so yeah, this person and others like her, will pay... www.keepersofthefaith.org

Full driving tests every 6 months at the expense of the driver after 75. Eyes, ears, reflexes, and actual driving. No leeway given, if they don't pass they lose their license.
In my city, there are a few options for people that can't get around on their own, and they are all very affordable. Much less than a car payment and insurance would be. Also, AARP or Social Security or some other organization needs to put out advertisements of the dangers of driving as you get older. Tug at their heart strings a bit and help them make the decision for themselves. It's hard to give up the freedom that owning a car gives you, but it's the only way to help prevent things like this. Unfortunately, this will probably never happen because old people vote in impressive numbers... |

Thank you from everyone you've cared for, even though they rarely told you they appreciate you being there for them.
Perhaps this will make others wish to join the ranks, as standing by the side of the road not knowing what to do is a sad thing. Also, totally agree on the frequent testing for the elderly to maintain their status. Something needs to be done. |

Michelle was a wonderful woman and a pure soul. I hadn't talked to her in years, but this still hit me like a ton of bricks. She was one of those people that just seemed to be smiling all the time, and you could tell it even in text. She was one of the "good people" in the world.
you will be missed sweetie. -Don |

Marth is right on. If you are "disoriented" you should have the common sense to get the hell off the road. I have no love for old folks behind the wheel. I can't count how many close calls I've had on major highways, busy intersections and just about ANYWHERE where some old person felt they didn't have to obey the rules of the road.
I think the best quote for this could come from something I saw on TV but don't remember where I saw it. "The irony of the accident is that the old people who kill the young people on the road live on with the help of the organs they've just collected" They were trying to be funny with a little dark humor but I am in no way trying to be funny here. The fact of the matter is that nothing could be closer to the truth. It's not like this problem hasn't been around as long as the licensing systems have been put in place. A talent and nice person is gone thanks to extensive stupidity. If you have a petition to sign about old people and/or cell phones in cars I'll sign it in a heartbeat. I am in Canada so it might not affect US laws but we need laws like that here too. Maximum fines and prison sentences, no ifs ands or buts. I hope she had a great life. It's a shame it was so short and ended by someone who was graced enough to make it to 84. They should have known better. |

the loop hole is that if they renew their license they don't have to do the testing. i am 100% in agreement that over 60 you need to pass hearing, vision, reaction and driving knowledge tests.
this is a senseless loss and i feel for her family |

This makes me so sad. Michelle was one of the few gals (or guys) I've met online that shares my love for gaming and horses. She was even a hunter/jumper rider like myself. She was always fun to talk to about the whole "scene" in the H/J world. From what I understood she was fairly talented in that arena. Her family has land and at least at one point she had dreams of establishing her own riding facility.
Our friendship survived even when we found out we flirted with the same guy (GASP OMG NO!). She didn't seem/get all cloak and daggers about on-line relationships like some women are. All and all a fun and classy girl. I haven't spoken to her in years but I am sad to hear about her passing. ![]() |

Oh man, I remember being in a guild with her years ago, it is funny how you remember all the conversations and things so long after the fact. She was always a great person to talk to, always happy and a lot of fun to be around.
I hope she went easy, and I hope her family will be okay through the grief. Must be hard to lose someone at that age and through those circumstances. Makes me kind of sad. |

I haven't shown my face around here in some time.
I used to call Michelle all the time, In fact I owned her account for a while. She was a very good friend, and a very sweet person. Taken far to early, and I will dearly miss her. This is just surreal to me, it's unfair, and when I read this I am not afraid to say that I cried. I haven't talked to her in about 15 months, and now I never can again. I am at a loss for words. Michelle, wherever you are, please know - you will be missed. I love you. -Dan |

I'm very sad about Springfever's passing, I knew her for a long time (back in Griffin Claw then KTF), though not well. It only seems like yesterday when after a raid I would say to her:
/tell Springfever "hi, could I please get a virtue?" She would respond.. /tell Catrice "Of course! God take care of you Spring. |
