Why is it stupid. Why shouldn't a free society have a citizenry that earns the blessings of citizenship through well-regulated service? Is it me or does this bold part sound like the "Starship Troopers" way to run the government?

I had taken then tests already and a commander was sent to talk to me from another recruiting station because I scored so high when someone thought to ask me about medical history. |

More big government from our Liberal friends, eh, Komrade?! How do you propose that we enforce it? Oh, another branch of government? Who is footing the
bill? I think Fishbeak would say that this would be something coming from Neocons!!
Stupid fucking idea. The government has no role in demanding it's citizens perform this type of service. |

Me, personally, I wouldn't have any problems if they made it where all 18 year olds, after graduating from high school, had to serve 2 years in the
military. Think it would be very good for a lot of the troubled youth out there.

What would be good for the troubled youth out there is to have their parents, you know, actually parent!
So Gandol, you're all for big government then? There are already many, many institutions that provide community service opportunities in this country. Let them do the good work they've been doing for decades without the government getting involved and fucking it up. |

I'm curious to know why you're zeroing in on me when one of your fellow conservatives shares the same viewpoint I do. Maybe he'll answer and you
won't be so hostile to his responses. I have every confidence Marth and I will share similar views in whatever he shares here.

Kendien wrote: Ken - IMO - I agree with you about parenting. Doesn't change what I said - I'd STILL be for them having to serve for 2 years in the military.

I'd STILL be for them having to serve for 2 years in the military. And you'd still be wrong. /shrug. Compulsory service is not a solution to the parenting issues we face in America today. Two years of service isn't going to erase the 18 years of ingrained behavior and/or temperament due to poor parenting. |

If nothing else, our infrastructure could use the attention. If our infrastructure really needs help maybe the government needs to stop giving welfare handouts and start putting people to work fixing things.

do the same peple that hate this also hate forcing children to go to school or making people do jury duty? Is it the time length that is the problem or the
idea that people would actually have to do something for someone other than themself?
