We already have many examples of a core group of folks who excuse/rationalize racist attacks on Obama.
/shrug it seems along the same lines of Cafu's "Bros before hoes" image.
Well that was quick.

Do you think the "Bros before hoes" sig was sexist?

Obama seems to be rapidly assuming the mantle of President-Elect, just like former President Dewey.

the party that brought us Willie Horton...was the Democrat Party, in the person of that scintillating, brilliant intellect, Al Gore, who used the Horton issue and his picture before the primaries. --Diane

What Obama is doing is called "poisoning the well". He wants to get his hits in before anyone actually does what he's predicting. The name-calling or simple labeling that usually goes with poisoning the well is already done for him by association: play the race card, you're a racist, everyone knows this. Now that he's made this pronouncement, any and all future criticism will be easily dismissed as racism. Given the attacks on those who disagree ("your hyper sensitive racial sensibility ... your freak out ... the attacks ...") and the apologists for Obama ("... discusses generic republicans, not McCain" or "a core group of folks who excuse/rationalize racist attacks") leaping to get their shots in first, I'd say it was a very effective opening move. --Diane |

Are you saying he doesn't really expect racial attacks? Or are you saying he's supposed to keep quiet about it until he's been swiftboated and
it's already too late?

Republicans crying foul are saying "but we haven't even started doing it yet," and even that's not true. They have already started doing it
and it will only get uglier.

You'll score one point every time a mainstream Republican "attacks" Obama in a "racist" way. But first you have to define "racist attack". Your move. --Diane |

The definition isn't really the problem: Any attack designed to make people less likely to vote for Obama because of his race. Proving design or intent is
the problem.

Klark you sound just like a piece from The Daily Show.
Your racial paranoia is epic. Like I said earlier I can't wait to see your head explode if Obama does win. Careful, he's out to enslave the white race. Just ask Jon Stewart.
