Odd thought I had tonight. Since I've been of age to vote, I've voted for Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush. I didn't vote in the last election because I wasn't fond of either candidate.

Also, the state that I current reside in has voted red since 1968, and only voted blue once. The state that I am moving to has voted exactly as I have.

Local elections I've gone blue blue NOT FRANK(didn't vote at all) and Palin(red).

McCain/Palin 2008, that's the ticket!

My voting pattern in the presidential elections has been all over the place.
I have never voted for any party in particular, I voted for the person I thought could best do the job.

1988 Bush - That shot of Dukakis in the tank killed his chance with me.
1992 Perot - I was ready to follow that crazy little bastard right to hell :)
1996 Clinton - My 401k and portfolio was going like crazy, why fuck with that.
2000 Gore - I thought Bush was too wet behind the ears and running on Daddy's name.
2004 Bush - John Kerry? No fucking way.

In this election I am going for McCain. I would have voted for him in 2000 given the chance.

My recollection of the '92 and '96 campaigns is a little fuzzy, but I'm pretty sure it was Clinton, then Perot.

For House, I've voted Pete Stark repeatedly. I really like any guy who has the brass balls to declare himself an atheist when it's so unpopular to do so.

For Senate, I held my nose and voted for Boxer and Feinstein except one particular year when the GOP actually put somebody decent up against Feinstein, and now I can't remember who it was.

00 Didn't waste my time voting against Bush in Texas. I Voted McCain in the primary that cycle even though he had already lost.
04 Kerry

For national congress it's almost always Democrats. 90%+. For state elections, it's about 60/40 Dem/Rep. For local, I tend to vote largely Republican - probably at least 75%.

locally i voted for the more "liberal" leaning people because they got the local projects i want to see done, done. In senate, I will always vote for whoever is running against Diane Feinstein, regardless of what party they are from.

In the house, I voted for Herger...he's a great rep.

1992: Bush
1996: Dole (Clinton was just too crooked for me to cast a vote for in good conscience.)
2000: Gore (He just appeared more capable to me than Bush did. At the time, I didn't realize what a nutjob Gore was.)
2004: Bush (I supported the Iraq war, even though I thought it was being mishandled. And Kerry just had too many black marks against him.)

In non-presidential elections, my voting is more mixed. Arkansas tends to have a lot of relatively conservative Democratic candidates, so party lines often aren't so important here.

Gubner of AK. New old school type republican. Tiny amount of noise that she could make it onto the ticket. Probably won't happen, but if she does, my vote would start leaning in favor of McCain.

I don't recall who I voted for during Reagan's terms. I think I didn't vote.

92 - I don't recall, but I think Perot. I really hated Clinton. I was a Tsongas supporter and Clinton pushed him out with a smear campaign. I also thought Bush v 1.o ran Iran/Contra. Still do.
96 - Clinton.
00 - Gore. Bush did nothing for me and the black baby incident reminded me of the smear job on Tsongas.
04 - Bush. While the swift boat smear was a new national low and should have embarrassed us as a nation being mortified by the attacks on a decorated veteran's record didn't make me like the candidate any better. For me it really came down to who I trusted to run the war and I didn't trust Kerry.

00 - Gore (I don't even remember what my reasoning was but Lieberman as VP definitely didn't help him get my vote.)

1984 - Walter Mondale.
1988 - Jack Kemp in the primary and Bush 1 in the general. Paul had insane foreign policy (nothing changed in 20 years) and Dukakis was a dumbass...so this was my first lesser of evils vote.
1992 - Perot. Didn't have any confidence in Bush, Clinton blew it with the "I didn't inhale" and draft dodging, and Perot was more entertaining than Marrou
1996 - Alexander in the primary for no other reason than he was a fraternity brother. Dole in the election. Learned my lesson from Perot. Voting 3rd party when they don't have a chance is throwing it away and you end up with who you really dislike.
2000 - Bush. Couldn't stand the thought of Tipper Gore being first lady.
2004 - Bush again. Kerry was too much of a tool.

Don't remember why, just something more appealing to me about him at the time.

1996: Dole
Was tired of Clinton by that point.

2000: Bush
Even though I had gotten tired of Clinton I thought he was still an okay president. Gore though was a complete tool as far as I was concerned, stemming from way back with the PMRC flap. The legal action after the election only confirmed his "tooliness" for me.

2004: Bush
I could've easily voted against Bush, but the Dems gave me someone who was so utterly unappealing to me that I couldn't vote for Kerry and absolutely did not want him to be president. Had they thrown someone like Biden or Lieberman up against Bush, I'd most likely have voted for one of those guys.

1988: Bush I: The exact opposite of his son. Intelligent, a war hero, a successful business man, a foreign policy expert. An absolutely brilliant man and if he isn't remembered as one of the best presidents in modern American history he should at least be remembered as being the most qualified for the job. It's a shame his legacy will always be tarnished by his idiot of a son.

1992: Bush I: see above.

1996: Clinton: for a fast talking redneck hustler, this guy turned into a pretty good president.

2000: Gore: I think putting up an idiot as extremely unqualified as George W. Bush is a shameful act that shows nothing but disdain for our nation.

2004: Kerry: I liked him from the beginning. Like Obama, I had a feeling he would be the nominee even though the mass media pundits were all telling us that Dean would be the guy. He ran an awful campaign.

John McCain: He was against waterboarding before he was for it.
John McCain: He was for campaign finance reform before he ran for president.

2004- John Kerry because of a lack of options. I was not happy this election.
