i think in stories like that, the point isn't that they didn't survive, its what they do to try and survive...

My 2 and 5 year old both sat through Forbidden Kingdom http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0865556/
I really enjoyed it. It was actually a decent blend of jet li and jackie chan style movies (cinematography vs crazy drinking fisticuffs). On an entertainment level i give it 5 out of 5.

I hate when people take toddlers to movies.

depends on the movie and when its shown. if i go to a PG13 or lower rated movie before 6 i expect toddlers. if i go to an R rated movie or a movie after 6 and
see a toddler- i hate the parent.

The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford
I can't believe people liked this movie.....I mean, it was soooo fucking boring I could barely sit through it. I was so pissed that I wasted the $4 renting it. Worst movie i've seen this year. |

I went to the movie at 4:30pm, there were 3 other people in the theatre...my kids made about 2 peeps during the whole movie (gasps at some of the fighting
scenes), less than asshat adults who bring cell phones/text messaging noises, idiots kicking the back of your chair, try to make funny comments during the
movie, etc etc.

There is a time and a place, and it sounds like you were fine. I should have thrown "inappropriate" into my previous post. I love going to a horror
movie and there's somebody there with a crying toddler.
"You and I are told increasingly we have to choose between a left or right. Well I'd like to suggest there is no such
thing as a left or right. There's only an up or down: [up] man's old -- old-aged dream, the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with law and
order, or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism. And regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would trade our freedom for
security have embarked on this downward course."

If there were more explosions and ninjas in it, he would have liked it.I'm all for a good drama. As long as it's good. This movie was fucking horrible. In fact, this board is the first time i've heard of anyone liking it. I guess I don't know any homo wannabe film critics irl - like the ones to be on this board----aka----you. |

The Kingdom - Pretty good, but it was REALLY slow after the opening scene, until like 15 minutes to the end... worth a watch though.

Watched "Meet the Robinsons" with the kid a few nights ago. It's pretty obvious Disney's in-house production team are trying to borrow some
of the same techniques that made Pixar such a rousing success. This movie isn't bad, but I wouldn't say it's spectacular either. Definitely
kid-friendly though.
And speaking of Pixar, we also watched Ratatouille. This movie will join the ranks of Pixar-greats such as Toy Story and Monsters, Inc. in my opinion.

For a humorous example, I sold myself as a slave at a charity auction once. I ended up spending the day chopping wood at a farm. It's slavery, but it's far from immoral. |

i'll watch anything by pixar. If you don't have it yet, i really reccomend you buy the DVD of Pixar's short films, starting with the 80s to
now...they are great.

watched both meet the robinsons and ratatouille, while robinsons wasnt bad and had some funny parts, at a few parts i clicked to change the channel before i
realized it was a movie playing. ratatouille i liked a whole lot more.
saw both the illusionist and the prestige, finally. i liked them both a whole lot. my parents had already seen the illusionist and loved it so i suggested they check out the prestige since it was on demand. my dad turned the movie off saying it wasnt his cup of tea... why? because of the use of killing birds in the movie. give me a break, he loves war movies, samurai movies and etc. i told them they were missing out, as they had only gotten to the scene where the dove box broke the ladies fingers. my mom took my advice and finished watching it after my dad went to bed and liked it even tho she said it was a "tough movie to watch." ...also on a freaky note, towards the end of the movie, maybe a minute or two before the credits would have started, the tv randomly started changing channels rapidly, both of us were 5 feet from the remote which was simply sitting on a foot rest. that was kinda creepy. |

I like National Treasure 2. Did not expect much- and was perfectly content when I walked out of the movie. It was just fun.

Not at all recent, but finally watched 12 Monkeys. It was ok but not worth the exceptionally glowing reviews people had told me about. However, I
thought Brad Pitt was excellent in it. He really is a competent actor (unlike assclowns such as Tom Cruise who make far more money than they deserve). I think
one of the things that turned me off to this movie was how stupidly cartoonish the governing body of the future acted. They seemed totally dysfunctional and
unbelievable. Other than that, the script wasn't too bad.

And not at all recent but more or less a decent fit with this thread...
Just watched Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid What really impressed me about this film was how carefully the authors stitched in OLD school actors such as Veronica Lake, Humphrey Bogart, and so on without going overboard. At the same time, the comical tone brought to the contemporary content was silly and fun. Definitely worth watching if you never bothered to see it.

Just saw Sweeney Todd. Depp is really good in it and pretty good singer. Didn't think there would be so much gore in it and a lot of scenes were hard to
watch.

Strange Wilderness - Dumb movie, stupid premise, and i laughed my ass of the entire time. Go in with low expectations and a "funny ha-ha" movie, and
you'll be pleasantly surprised.
