the trade is a steal, former first rounder- playing like a top player at his position and in his prime... for a second rounder. im surprised another team didnt
catch wind of this and offer up a 2nd and 5th or something. too bad hes going into exile and we will never hear from him again until he is a free agent or
traded.

Jesus Christ, Raiders.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3300199 A source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that the deal is for seven years and worth $70 million. The amount of guaranteed money and bonuses in the contract have not been finalized. |

Doubt we'll be able to afford Asomugha now, because he'll be seekign a similar amount of money. Hall is the better CB, but I don't want Asomugha to
leave.

Big Al must know he is going to die soon, so he is trying to load up and overpay while he is at it.

I was under the impression that DeAngelo Hall was a decent cornerback, but nothing special. That's a lot of money. That might even be more than the Eagles
gave to Samuel but it's hard to say until they release the details.

I can't stand when people blame Al Davis for making it harder for their little po-dunk teams to re-sign players.
Blame Nate Clements the 49ers, they're the ones that started these insane CB deals worth 10 mil a year. At least if that's what Al Davis pays DeAngelo Hall, it may be worth it, Nate Clements isn't even a premier corner imo. That being said, it would be nice if Al Davis would die soon. Our team would probably become a good playoff team in a matter of 2-3 years without him fucking things up for us. Davis had his moment and deserves to be in the NFL HoF, but people won't even remember him as that now, he'll be remembered as some deranged old fuck who drove a popular franchise into the ground trying to play 70's and 80's style football in the 2000's. |

I was under the impression that DeAngelo Hall was a decent cornerback, but nothing special.I live in Charlotte so I watch a lot of Nascar division games, and I've seen first hand how good DeAngelo Hall is. Champ Bailey is the only better cover corner in the league imo, Hall is fucking nasty. Everyone is giving Hall shit now because he got 3 penalties trying to cover Steve Smith on the same drive. Apparently those people had never seen a prior Carolina/ATL game, because Hall usually covers Smith quite well. And Smith is one of the best receivers (if not THE best when he has a healthy QB and healthy o-line) in football today. Hall has also been known for covering TO pretty well. As far as pass coverage goes, I'd rate Hall second only to Champ Bailey. Not because he's most likely a Raider now, because I've seen him in a ton of games and seen his ability. Asante Samuel may be a ball hawk, but he ain't a god at man-to-man. |

Hall as a "good corner back" is debatable. It depends on what a team feels they need out of the position based on scheme and who they have playing
safety. He's aggressive and can shut down receivers, but he can also get burned if he doesn't get help from the safety position because he can be
"too aggressive" at times and takes risks.
The question is, why did the Raiders want him? Does he fit in well with what they trying to do defensively or did Al just want to overpay for some more hype and attitude in the locker room? At this point the Raiders could give up a dollar and a 4th round pick for Tom Brady or Payton Manning and I'd question their motives. |

The draft is 9 days away.
Also, Steve McNair retires and it's for the best... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3351086 I guess this guarantees the Ravens are taking either Matt Ryan or Brian Brohm 1st round. |

Can't wait... a lot of mock drafts I am reading have Stewart sliding out of the 1st round. If he's around at 25 when my beloved Seahawks pick I hope
the grab him. I'd giggle like a school girl. Him or Phillips the safety from Miami.
On another note... wtf is up with the NFL schedule makers. Only 7 teams not on MNF this coming season. 6 of those teams didn't make the playoffs last year. The 7th has made the playoffs the last 5 seasons in a row (only the Pats come close iirc), yes it's my beloved Seahawks. And according to Sando over at ESPN there are only 5, count em 5 games where both teams won a playoff game last year. Three of those games involve my beloved Seahawks. I don't want to hear anymore bullshit about soft schedules.

The Dolphins are sort of screwed with the #1. There's no franchise QB worthy of being taken first and if the guy they want, supposedly Jake Long out of
Michigan, gets a contract similar to the one JaMarcus Russell received, he'll be the highest paid offensive lineman in the league without ever having
played a game.
Rookie salaries are broken in a way that NBA salaries were when Glenn Robinson got a $68m contract on day 1. |

if ryan falls to 8th, the ravens would have jumped on it even if steve was still around. however, if mcfadden falls to 8 and ryan isnt there, theres no way
mcfadden will make it to the bengals, even with willis signed for the next few years. well, except for the virtually impossible scenario that both would slip
to be there at the 8th slot, then mcfadden would fall past us.
however, if they are both off the board, which is like >90% chance likely, the ravens will either look to trade down in the first, as the top 3-4 CBs in the draft are ranked neck to neck and you can get better value with the pick by traded down, get another 3rd round pick or so, and still get basically the same caliber player. if they dont draft a QB in the first round they will either trade back into the first (or earlier second) to get their selection of henne, flacco or brohm, or wait to see which of them is still around when their pick in the 2nd round comes around. however, they could go another year with boller and see how troy smith develops, and hope for a stronger QB class next year. (i dont really keep up on college players until the draft comes around, whats next years qb class gonna be like anyway?) dont be surprised if the ravens blow the team up and start over next offseason, trading/dumping aging vets and getting alot of salary cap space to make moves. they havent really done that since a few years after the superbowl, and in the window system this cycle is coming to an end soon.

The Jets will take either McFadden or Gholston. No chance both will still be on the board and if both are off, they could take a stab at Matt Ryan.

The Eagles are sitting at 19 but have around 11 picks. I'm expecting them to package a few picks and possibly Lito Sheppard to move up and take an
offensive tackle. Andy Reid loves lineman and most mocks have Jeff Otah and Chris Williams going before the Eagles pick.
Other areas of need include safety and defensive end. If they do move Sheppard they will probably take another cornerback early if not the first day. I'd guess we'll another QB and a running back among the second day picks.

How's this for a conspiracy theory:
http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/04/18/new-trade-chart-an-effort-by-eagles-to-move-up/ He's saying the whole idea of a new draft value chart is being instigated by the Eagles in a bid to trade up.

McFadden likely going to the Raiders @ #4? Would he do so with a Raiders great legacy in Chris Long on the board?
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/04/21/SPR5108V8O.DTL Not surprising I guess, but I really think Michael Bush is going to be a stud. From a team perspective I don't think this move makes any lick of sense. If it means Gholston or (cross my fingers) Chris Long falls to the Jets, I'm perfectly fine with it. |

5 year 57.5 million deal 30 million guaranteed Per Adam Schefter
He's getting more per year than JaMarcus Russell but slightly less in guarantees because of the shorter length of the contract. Jake Long is now the highest paid OL in the NFL. Congrats NFL on being broken. |
