I'm not going to say who to vote for and I really hope this thread doesn't turn into a who to vote for thread... just research the candidates and vote for who you want. But do vote.

If you're 18-29 years old you're statistically the least likely group of people to participate in an election. You can find out how to register to
vote by Googling "how to register to vote" and your state name if you aren't already registered.

Please don't vote just for the sake of voting. If you are too lazy to figure out the issues and make an informed decision, please do us all a favor and
stay home and play games on election day.

My girlfriends little brother and sister both don't vote. One is 20 and still hasn't registered and the other is 18 and won't vote because
"his vote doesn't matter."
when i turned 18, i registered to vote, and have voted in every election since... and for those who don't like the choices, write in is an option...which is what i'll be doing this year i'm sure... |

in my state only 7% of the 18-29 year olds voted. which means like 750,000 people didn't vote that could have. I just want to spread the word that it is
important to have your say, especially if you don't like how the last 8 years have gone. You only get a chance on the big election every 4 years.

If you are ignorant of the issues or the positions of the candidates please don't vote. It would be immoral to cancel out the vote of another person who
gave a shit and took the time to find out.
Voting by itself is not a noble act. It can be the opposite. |

If you think I'm implying that people should just vote to vote, I'm not. I said to research the candidates. But you could try to motivate people to
educate themselves, instead of saying if they don't know the issues, don't vote.

The problem with this thread is that lazy 18- to 29-year-olds probably won't bother to click on the link....

No, your vote will never, ever make a difference. But, if you're hanging out at a party sometime and the subject comes up, you kind of look like a lazy ass (just like the thread title implies) if you say, "nah, I didn't vote, I didn't feel like it." Of course you can just lie and say you did vote when you didn't - that works too. |

/shrug I'm 22 and will be 23 when it comes voting time.
I don't plan on voting, not because I'm lazy. I'm actually registered and voted last time, though it was just to throw a vote against Bush. None of the 3 running this time are worth a fuck, though any of them will probably be better than Bush. If I do end up voting, it'll be just for governer of NC, voting for Pat McCrory. I'll still not vote for president this time. |

Gotta love the republicans who feel the need to tell younger people that maybe they should consider not voting. It holds for everyone, as far as I'm concerned. If you don't take the time to research the issues, don't vote just for the sake of making points at a party later (you can lie and say you did, after all). I can understand why Cafu might want people to vote whether they think about the issues or not, but it's still a bad idea. Note that I'm not saying that people who do look at the issues and reach conclusions I disagree with shouldn't vote. ![]() Harmony of Souls : My Quiver All this science I don't understand; it's just my job five days a week. |

I don't care enough to vote. I get my ballot in the mail and it costs a stamp that I don't have to mail back. My fiance is the same way. I am 26 and
she is 28 so we fall into the category.
I've voted twice and we got an idiot in the white house both times. After that I didn't feel like voting anymore since the whole electoral college system is dumb. If I get a ballot that has a state/county measure on it that could affect my job (I'm a state employee) I will vote on it, but that's it. |
