They saw the problems that occured in the Canadian beef industry when America banned Canadian beef for a while there when we had mad cow problems. They obviously don't want to have happen to their industry what they did to ours so they're trying to prevent any sort of stringent testinig that would show a problem. I don't think they believe the problem is widespread, and its not, it never is these days ... but it causes a panic which hurts the industry so they're trying to protect the industry. That's a noble goal its just ridiculous the way they're going about it because it means another attempt by government to control a legitimate business trying to do a better job "for the good of the whole". We have government to establish minimums to protect the public. The government should not be in the business of preventing businesses from providing a higher quality product. Its wrong fundamentally and it goes against the entire concept of capitalism. The guy who provides the higher quality has more demand for his product.
