keep it simple, when the umps believe there is reasonable doubt in the clarity of the call (be it home run, fair/foul, i wouldnt even mind strike 3 swinging vs foul tip), call up to a booth, give them 30-60 of additional review (assume that they saw the play live), then move on. its better than the initial argument followed by the ump discussion followed by telling one manager what happened then the other, then arguing with the side that the call was less favorable for and then tossing people out if the umps feelings were hurt, then having the ejected persons sulking and taking their time leaving the dugout.

the al east is pretty brutal this year. in years past it was just the sox and yanks with the blue jays saying "can we play too? we just spent another 100mil...". but this year it is one of the, if not the, closest division in mlb. statistically it is the closest division currently with the last place team only 6 games back, with only the yankees under .500, by only one game. the rays have had years and years of high draft picks, and the Os are overachieving. the rays are deep with the best farm system in baseball, but the Os need their position players to stay healthy. they can dip into AAA for pitching if they need it after all the offseason trades, but the farm is shallow on ML ready position players.
