Went to a premiere at 8 tonight. I never followed the comics much so I don't know how true to the series it was, but I will say this: as yet another in the
endless stream of comic adaptations that have come down the pike, this one requires only one word to review.

That was definitely not the one word I was expecting, in regards to most comic book movies. I haven't seen this one.

I saw it on a preview a couple of nights ago, and I have to say, it was excellent. They did a very good job of sticking to the origins and most of the lexicon.
There are the inevitible creative license strays, but it's pretty minimal other than to compress parts 30 years of background information into a single
time frame, the update of a few things to make it more in tune with the current time frame, and to change the nationality of one of the main characters in his
origin.
In fact, I'd have to say that out of all the comic movies I've seen, this one stays closest to the comic origin and storyline. The only really left one character out, and it wasn't that noticable...and there's certainly room for him in the sequal. Robert Downy was Perfect as Stark, btw. Really pulled it off well. Technically the film looks great too. According to some of the things I've been reading about production, Favro actually had a hard time telling the difference between CGI effects and stuff they actually shot. It wasn't as in your face as Transformers, but I really enjoyed it. peace, Aielman "There are no stupid questions...but there certainly are a LOT of inquisitive idiots" Husband, Father, Squisher of bugs.

Haven't seen it yet, but yeah ... I heard that at times he would complain that something looked too "CGI" and the guys had to respond and say
"uh, that's real, not CGI". They were rather happy to have those kinds of complaints when the CGI was stated as looking more real than the real
stuff.

I'll be seeing it this weekend... been waiting months for this one. May is going to be a busy movie month... Iron Man, Speed Racer and Indy. I may see more
movies in the theater this month than I have in the past two years.

Iron Man and Batman are the major ones I'll be seeing this summer. Maybe Hellboy and Hulk, but they kinda look eh-ish.

There is a scene all the way at the end after allllll the credits. It's worth staying to watch.
Stan Lee was awesome, too. |

That was an awesome movie. I went in with fairly "meh" expectations because I've never been a huge Iron Man fan. Favreau and company nailed it
though. That movie was awesome on pretty much every level, and Robert Downey Jr. was Tony Stark. It was like the character stepped right off the
comics page and onto the movie screen.
The bit after the credits was short, but worth waiting for, especially for die-hard comics geeks. You'll get your "nerd-on" when you hear the last couple of words at the end of it. |

Glad to hear good reviews from you guys, because the previews and trailers honestly disgusted me. And I wanted to see it before-hand, so I gues I'll catch
it this weekend if I'm not too devestated from Kid Rock.

Read a review in the SJ Mercury News. The reviewer gave it high praise and also pointed out that this is Marvel's first in-house production in which they
didn't use an established movie studio at all. I wonder if that helped the quality.
Borofin tells you:
Not you, jagoff... You are obviously lying in claiming ignorance of whom I was addressing. But lying is natural for you, isn't it? Go away you Bay area, anti-American leftist pos. |

Gandol teh Pirate wrote: Considering the scene at the end, that was genuinely brilliant on Marvel's part. No competing movie houses mucking up licensing for crossovers. I
suspect a couple more movies for different characters, then a big one in about 5 years. Is the new Hulk done in-house or through a studio?

Awesome awesome movie. Great casting and acting was really top notch for a comic book movie. Funny as hell and Robert Downey Jr is a such a charismatic guy.
Perfect fit for Tony Stark.
The ending after the credits was badass. And only total comic book nerds will understand the significance of why they picked the actor for that guy. |

I read and collected comics as a kid. I collected marvel comics, DC comics were stupid. So seeing all my childhood comics come to life has been both weird and
fun.
I never followed Iron Man in the comics (I collected FF mostly) so I went to this not knowing much except the guy's name was Tony Stark and he was rich and really smart. I walked out thinking this was the best comic to movie adaptation I have seen. I thought they did an amazing job. Loved Robert Downing Jr. Loved the writing. Loved the FX. The story was classic comic book. Simple, clean, no twists just action and comic relief. I was kind of surprised to see Jon Faveru (sp?) in a real tiny bit part. Then when I saw the credits I got it. Guess that acting bug dies hard. Waiting for the new Hulk movie. I loved the Hulk =)

great movie. Favreau is a great director. Was alot of great moments in the film.
So David Hasseholf isn't reprising his role of Nick Fury it seems

I think everyone that read the Ultimates knew who Fury would be. It's not like the character in the comic was modeled after him or anything.

Saw it the weekend. Definately one of the better comic to move adaptations ever done. Like others have already said, Downey fucking nailed it, head on.
Couldn't have picked a better actor for the job I don't think. The guy just oozed everything Stark was about including his little speech there at the
end regarding the "bodyguard" and how he ended it. Excellent. I've read the Iron Man comic books rather extensively and I gotta say there's
not much else they could have done to make it a closer, and more well written, adaptation. Matter of fact, even Pepper was done rather well although Happy kind
of played a fairly back-seat during the show. That would have been my only slight shift ... to give Happy a more prominent part. Maybe in the sequel, which we
know will happen.

Saw this Saturday and loved it. RDJ was perfect and hawt. Gwyneth usually grates on my nerves in anything I see her in but even she was enjoyable as Pepper Potts. The sequels can't come fast enough. |

I enjoyed it. I have never read the comic, so I could only judge it on what it was. Acting was better than your average comic book movie, for sure.
