Lawsuits aside, I am very disappointed to hear this. Peter Jackson's vision was the Lord of the Rings for me. I can't imagine anyone doing as good a job at bringing Tolkien's work to life like he did.
Very sad indeed.

No Jackson for Hobbit movie.

Quote: I love Tolkien's work and have read pretty much all of the obscure stuff, but if they try and make The Silmarillion into a movie, you can pretty much guarantee it will bomb, regardless of who stars and directs. It's just not as accessible as the Hobbit or LotR. People will be all like, "Where are the fucking hobbits? Isn't this a Lord of the Rings movie?" -Tim

well not sure if they will cover all that stuff, I think, basically, they are looking at taking a small part of it and making into a movie.
Besides, it's "kinda" his fault, apparently the lawsuit was over the income from the lotr films, and new line have a limited amount of time before they have to start filming / release the projects, or they can be sold again, so ... they felt they had no choice I think. |

anyway, the studio is now insisting that the door is still open for him to come back to the project.
honestly to me the whole king kong thing was played out before he got his hands on the project, and there wasnt much he could do for me with it. |

Dude, the Kramer reference was a joke. Secondly, just as you are free to express your opinion, so am I. Thirdly, I'm not a Peter Jackson fan. Fourthly, I like my opinion better than yours. |

King Kong was awful. I hate that movie. I bought it used and I will be taking it back for store credit. Brutal movie.
The Hobbit will be fine without Peter Jackson. I'm sure that there are enough true fans out there to make sure it's done right. I think the Hobbit lends itself to screenwriting far more than LOTR does. It'll be good. It wont be a butt-cramping marathon either... especially now that Peter Jackson is off the project. |

Quote:The difference, of course, is that Street Fighter was made by corporate big wigs who were trying to make money off of the teenage male demographic at the time. The people that really love the material were not working on the movie. With the Hobbit, you know that at least some of the people working on it will be fans that love the material and have some kind of childhood attachment to it. That makes a huge difference. With LOTR, you know that the goal was more than just money making. There was a lot of pride and passion that went into that movie and it showed. |
