Livermore was charged with possession of a short-barreled rifle with a silencer, tampering with evidence, illegal taking of deer closed season, waste of deer, hunting while suspended, attempted taking of wildlife during closed season, hunting with the aid of a light, aggravated animal abuse.Don't know Oregon law, but something tells me he's looking at more time than if he had killed a human. "Hunting with the aid of a light" and "Waste of deer" are actual laws on the books in Oregon? Deer are vermin in the NE. Tasty vermin,
but vermin nonetheless.

The state gets pissy when you don't eradicate vermin with the proper license, in the proper way or when they say you can.

Deer are vermin in the NE. Tasty vermin, but vermin nonetheless.I agree 100%, but there is still such a thing as "licensed hunting." You can only take certain numbers, during certain specific days, with certain specific weapons. I'd like to see them culled significantly, but other than in my fantasies I don't see siccing an A-10 on them, fun as that might be. ![]() Harmony of Souls : My Quiver All this science I don't understand; it's just my job five days a week. |

Some deer here in the NE ate my Tulips. I say, shoot them all, and let God sort them out.

Muerta, the chipmunks eat some of our flowers. We don't have tulips, but they've been caught in the act of chewing similar plants like daffodils.

We have no chipmunks (the dog takes care of them) and the squirrels have nicely aerated our lawn this year so planting seed was very easy. But it was the tracks around the tulips that gave away the deer. That, or Northeasters on stilts are nabbing them. I need one of them thar video cameras . . . .

I say, shoot them all, and let God sort them out.Typical liberal response, that requires a conservative to point out we need to save some of them so we can continue to eat them forever . . . :)

hunting with the aid of a light I know in Maine this is 100% illegal. It is typically done by a bunch of rednecks in the back of a pick up with a spotlight, drinking budweiser, going through woods and fields at night. You hit the deer with a high powered spot light, just like headlights of a car, they are confused and just stand there, and you shoot them. Most people that do this aren't just nabbing the 1 deer allowed in a season, they are nabbing 2 or 3 at a time, they'll take whatever they can get, even if it's a doe, which you need to get a special permit for anyway. It's highly frowned upon. |

You get 1 deer a season in Maine? Shit...there are guys in Florida who hit more than that with their truck.

One of the nice things about when I was stationed in DC was the number of states where I could hunt in (back when I was still an avid hunter). In any single
year, even though I lived in the barracks, it wasn't unusual for me to end up with around a dozen or more deer. Some of the meat, once processed, was given
to my co-workers at HQMC, but the majority was donated to one of the homeless shelters in DC.

You get 1 deer a season in Maine? Shit...there are guys in Florida who hit more than that with their truck. Yea, but they get to try out the latest of LL Bean gear that they got from the Outlet store, so at least they look cool while they do it. Most people that do this aren't just nabbing the 1 deer allowed in a season, they are nabbing 2 or 3 at a time, they'll take whatever they can get, even if it's a doe, which you need to get a special permit for anyway. It's highly frowned upon. And it's true too! If you go to the coast, the people actually do frown at you if you admit to killing more than one deer, but if you are in the interior, everyone just says "meh." For the record now, I have 7, count them, 7 blossoming tulips in my yard right now when I should have 50+. Well, I have 50+ plants, but they seem to be missing their flowers. There are 7 blossomed flowers in the front yard. I am in camo, waiting . . . waiting . . . waiting . . .
