The mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick, gave his State of the City address the other night and it was a dandy. He is currently under investigation for perjury because he lied under oath about having an affair with his former Chief of Staff. It has also been revealed that he authorized millions of dollars to buy off some cops that had been fired illegally for investigating a party that led to the murder of a stripper at the mayors house, a murder that is still unsolved. This is just the very tip of the iceberg on this guy who has done nothing but get himself in trouble over and over again while in office, squandering tax payer money by the millions.

Detroit and the suburbs of Detroit have long been at odds because of the mishandling of Detroit affairs that hurt the entire region. With the exception of Dennis Archer, who was the mayor after Coleman Young and before the current mayor Kwame, the Detroit mayors have often played the race card when they were caught doing something illegal. They used the race card to get re-elected by saying the white people of the suburbs want a white puppet as the mayor of Detroit. They would get the cities african americans all wrapped up in a racial flurry that the issues would disappear and they would become the victim opposed to the guilty. It worked for decades before Dennie Archer became mayor and its on the verge or working again now that Kwame is the mayor.

So with this latest run of trouble he pulled out the old Coleman A Young textbook and went to work. He gave a good speech, a very good speech in my opinion then at the conclusion had this to say,

"In the past 30 days, I've been called a nigger more than anytime in my entire life," said Kilpatrick, 37. "In the past three days, I've received more death threats than I have in my entire administration," he said. "I've heard these words before, but I've never heard them said about my wife and children," he continued, his voice rising as he wagged his fingers and gestured with his arms.

"I don't believe that a Nielsen rating is worth the life of my children or your children. This unethical, illegal, lynch mob mentality has to stop."

Suppusibly he produced an email that said these things but honestly I dont put much credibility into the email. But lets say that he did receive this email, why in the world would the mayor of one of the largest metro areas stoop low enough to drop the N-Bomb on live TV? Notice how he brings death threats and the "lynch mob" into the conversation? All attempts to widen the divide between the suburbs. I could go on and on about this guy but its a complete waste of time.

If the election were tomorrow he would get re-elected. The more time the media spends unearthing things on this guy the more the citizens of Detroit will back him.
