I'm surprised that they're sticking with that name for the title. There isn't anything intriguing, foreboding or even interesting about the name
..... Cloverfield. Doesn't exactly send a rush of excitement through you.
the trailer looks good pretty good. The original teaser trailer seemed to more 'shakey camera' oriented than the new one that was shown during 'I Am Legend'. Still looks very interesting ....... except for the title. |

I keep confusing it with Clovertown, which was the codename for Intel Xeon quad-core processors. So I'll hear the word "Cloverfield" and turn to
see hot hardware specs and then it's just some stupid movie.
I think they used the name to mess with geeks.

When the first trailer was posted, the crappy bootleg looking one, people said the "monster" sounded like godzilla.

I think they said they wanted a "Godzilla for New York," but that doesn't mean it has to be a literal Godzilla.
Not to change the subject, but has anyone read "The Terror" by Dan Simmons? I have not been creeped out by a book in decades as much as that book creeped me out. Though I liked the movie in general, the action was great, the effects were cool, the story was neat....I got the feeling I was watching the season finally of Lost...without the hope of a new season at the end. Nothing was really revealed. We never learned what it was or if it was ever destroyed. We never really get a good look at it...or anything for that matter. I think the concept was neat, I just hope it doesn't catch on. At the end I felt like I was waiting for the real ending....Maybe I've been too spoiled by American movies to really appreciate this type of story anymore. Maybe I need my hand held through every detail, but I really did feel like I was missing something when I left, despite the fact that I still enjoyed myself.  |

Man, I really enjoyed the heck out of this, although I hope no one ever tries a movie like it again. Like all of JJ Abrams other stuff, he makes it work by
keeping his focus on the people, not the situation. The monster was really just background noise for the movie. While it was necessarily ridiculous at times it
was completely engrossing. Great, great ending, and I love that they had the sense not to try explaining things.
