aye, also apparently refusing to say he killed any dogs.
many of the dogs that were removed from vicks house are likely going to be put to sleep because they are way too aggressive and socially awkward to become pets. peta is going to be pissed about that, despite petas own euthanizing practices. |

Michael Vick formally filed a plea deal in federal court Friday, agreeing that his dog-fighting enterprise included gambling and the killing of dogs.
Vick signed the agreement on Thursday and will enter his plea in court on Monday. Vick concedes that he funded Bad Newz Kennelz and that the proceeds went to his three co-defendants, but claims he didn't reap any monetary benefit. He does admit that he knew the gambling was going on. |

All that money and he was only able to spell one of the three words correctly. Go figure. In retrospect, there is one thing that really surprises me about the case... I can't believe his name isn't spelled "Miahkel" or doesn't have a random "Ja" or "La" in front of it. |

I've read through the PDF that covers the plea deals. Although the whole endeavour was financed by Vick, it says he never received money when his dogs won. I think that is just a technicality, but it might just be a loophole large enough for the NFL not to impose a lifetime ban on him with. I honestly hope he gets a lifetime ban. Cinabre

While I'm pretty sure damned near every NFL owner is a greedy asshat, I really can't see a team willingly picking up Vick after his suspension, even if
he does manage to avoid a lifetime ban.
Can you imagine the horrible press that would come with signing him? You'd have the animal rights nuts out front every game. You'd have a whole lot of the average joe on the streets wondering about the character of their team when they'd get a dirtbag as their QB. Maybe if the guy had a few rings.. hell, one ring, teams might make an exception and sell out integrity for a power player. But Vic was a novelty of a QB who had delusions of grandeur with a marginal record. A few years out of the league and his game, based largely on his athleticism, will show rush and atrophy. I think he's done.

NFL suspended QB Michael Vick indefinitely.
Vick formally plead guilty earlier in the day, confirming that he had not only committed a crime, but lied to the league office about it. *note- suspended without pay

Atlanta should able to get back a lot of money they've already paid him. Even if they don't physically collect it, getting out from any cap restrictions and getting a "judgement" (for lack of a better word) would put one more hurdle in place before he could rejoin the NFL. He's done. I hope he goes back to the "Bad Newz" broke. |

One can only hope that the judge that hears the plea deal decided to pitch it and make Sick Vick go to trial. He lied to the commish as well as the Falcons
owner about his involvement, his gambling, his activities tied to unsavory characters. I really feel like this can be the stone that breaks the glass house
where most of these overpaid assholes can't get away with their illegal activities and not have to pay a serious price.
And jerkoffs like Marbury who support Vick and all his dogfighting fun need to be investigated too. I'm sure he has some skeletons in his closet he wouldn't like David Stern to know about. The apple doesn't fall far from his family, just look at his cousin Telfair. |

It's nice that the Falcons can try to get back some $$ from Vick, especially part of that 22 million signing bonus, but I have a feeling that they'll
get the same thing from Vick that Goldman got from OJ - zip dot nada. Vick's had plenty of time to make that money disappear, especially if his lawyers
knew from the start that he was guilty. Will be interesting to watch the Falcons to see how far they are willing to go to get some cash back from this bad
deal.

I know it's a generalization and not always true, but a huge chunk of athletes from poor backgrounds blow all their money on flash, parasite
relatives/friends, and/or shaky deals brought to them "investors" who they trust based race and/or background. He may or may not have had a lot of
assets to hide to begin with.
The good thing is, that even if the Falcons can't recoup a dime, getting any sort of ruling against him will be another barrier to him getting back in the NFL. As I understand it, even if another team were foolish enough to offer to pay the Falcons off, the commissioner could not allow that and force Vick to pay them back before he's even allowed to be spoken to in an official capacity. |

It's not really a generalization if it happens to be true. One that comes to my mind is Hershel Walker. It blew my mind when he tried to sue UGA for not
providing him a proper education. He gets a full scholarship, plays a couple years, jets early for the NFL, washes out early in his career and then realizes he
has zero to fall back on. When in doubt, sue someone.

some people have been saying "the falcons wish they had schaub!" but i actually disagree. he was a decent QB but in no means do i view him as a
franchise QB (he could prove me wrong in houston but we'll see) and the texans gave way more for him than he is worth. maybe a quality QB will fall to
atlanta (who knows how far the "drop" will need to be) and they can rally, or hey, maybe harrington will benefit from having a good running game and
not be so bad. crazier things have happened.

also, just to repeat/affirm what has already been said- The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting the Falcons will attempt to recover $22 million in bonus money from Michael Vick.
Vick must remain on the Falcons' roster until the matter is resolved, but the team will cut ties once it is. If Atlanta receives payment from Vick, the
money will be credited towards their 2008 salary cap, giving them great flexibility in signing players for next season.
so which free agents do you think the falcons will go after in the offseason?

They shouldn't have to collect to secure the cap relief... That's kind of sucky IMO. If that's the case, I don't think they're going to do
much shopping, since I'll be surprised as hell to see Vick having 22M laying around.
Good thing is that a debt like that may make the length of his suspension irrelevant. |

the sad thing is that some people want to believe him so badly that they do. and by some people i mean the people they interviewed during the preseason game

I'm going to be seriously pissed off if he doesn't get 3-5 years. If you remember, a couple of years ago, the guy from California who got pissed off
and threw someone else's dog into traffic due to road rage? He got 3-5 years for just killing that one animal even though the judge recognized that it was
due to "road rage" and he normally would have never done anything like that. Vick knew exactly what he was doing from the moment he agreed to
finance this whole thing.
