Played the demo yesterday for this, the game looks great. Looks like it's playing around 20 hours of time if you take your time to do everything and
explore.

i actually nerded it up and bought it at midnight and played pretty late into the morning, and i'm only on the second level....such an immersive game! the
big daddies are pretty creepy, it's like watching a wild animal romping around

those big daddies are hard to kill. and when they come at you in bunches I panic and hit the wrong buttons :( I'm up to the part where the first gene pool machine thingie appears. |

Most of the performance complaints I've seen are either people with way below minimum specs or people who really need to update their drivers. I've
had no problems playing on my 2 year old machine.
Haven't got very far in, but it's pretty sweet so far. Good mood, nice use of music, and some jaw dropping visuals. |

Oh yeah, Phrus and I were wondering how to manually reload one's Eve level - turns out I stumbled across it early last night and then shared it with him when he got his lazy ass connected: select a Plasmid ability (left hand is raised when you trigger your [LT] or left mouse button which I'd assume would be valid for the PC) and hit [X] or [<applicable PC Reload key>]. Simple as that. I got so bound up with "Reload" is for the hardware that it didn't occur to me to (1) RTFM and (2) consider using it for Eve reloading. I enjoy happy accidents like this. I think this game meets if not somewhat exceeds its hype at this point. I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing more as I continue to explore. It's like a happy mix between "11th Hour" (without the mantic puzzles), "Phantasmagoria" and "Half-Life 2" with a story line that sucks you in. Add all that together, and you get something that's much more than "Half-life 2". If you're hedging whether or not to buy this title, don't wait - do yourself a favor and snag a copy today. This game will become the new bar to reach for FPS with immersive story-lines.

This is the first game that has really made me appreciate my 5.1 system in the living room. The sound/ambience, in general, is so f'ing awesome in this
game.

**Spoilers Up to Arcadia/General Game Info**
Maybe I'm just getting old, but, I think this may be the most overrated game of all time. Just finished Arcadia and I'm extremely underwhelmed considering the hype. I have a pistol, a machine gun, a shotgun a chemical thrower, and some magic plasmids which require mana eve to activate. I kill the same cookie-cutter enemies over and over, and I'm forced to kill the same annoying Big Daddies 2-3 times a level so I can gain powers. For all this I get the moral dilemma of harvesting or saving 6 year old girls - seriously, who came up with that? So I enter each level, I'm given a mission by someone who's talking to me on a radio and I for some reason care about, then I follow the big *GOAL* arrows on my map... THIS is fucking innovative game play??? They gave this a 10/10??? Come on people, we live in a world that has a game called Oblivion and we're giving perfect scores to completely linear stories with no exploration? Okay, sorry I guess there is some non-linearity based on the option of murdering 6 year olds. Then there's the hacking. I played pipe dream like 15 years ago, and this is the best they can come up with? I'm sure this won't get boring 5 levels into the game - no wonder they put in Auto Hacks. I do have a high end rig, so I'll say the graphics are nice - but again, they don't natively support AA/AF? I tried turning it on through control panel, and no wonder they don't support it. At 1600x1200 a measly 4xAA/16xAF caused significant slowdown on my 8800GTS/640. I dunno, I just think Oblivion and Half-Life 2 were highly superior, but I'll keep on playing Bioshock in case there's something I just haven't come across yet that vastly improves the game. |

I dunno... personally I found myself getting "lost" in bioshock for hours at a time. I liked the story but your right it is very linear which I think works in many ways. I was disapointed by the ending especially with the allegid "open options to make yourself into any kind of weapon" which turned into 3 nukes and a mez and the invisibility "ability" was REALLY overpowered allowing one to really work around a LOT of situations that would of otherwise been dangerous. I wasn't impressed vs oblivion with graphics though the lighting is done REALLY well and I found myself enjoying the game a lot. I'm not going to say 10/10 but I'd say 8/10 easily. Galidin  |

Some games are meant to be open, some are meant to be linear. Some people enjoy open games - they shouldn't really play jap rpg or shooters like this. Some
prefer linear games with a fixed beginning and end, they really shouldn't bother with oblivion. Some can play both, and personally at least, I rate this as
a better game than Oblivion simply because Oblivion had the stupidest leveling / character development system ever created. Any rpg game where you become less
powerfull as you level is a failure for me :)
