How does this movie rank violence and language wise to say Spiderman or Transformers?

Hmmm. About the same. I'd say its different types of violence. Spiderman was more fist-to-fist violence and Iron Man was more explosions and bullets.
Figure about normal action move violence levels, although very little to no blood except the first scene.

Yeah, I'd hate to use the term "cartoon violence" but it's pretty appropriate. No real gore or graphic violence. When Iron Man hits the bad
guys, they just kind of go flying across the room and hit the wall. I don't remember any bad language at all, to be honest. Brief scene at the beginning
where Stark makes out with a partially clothed chick, but it's not really very suggestive and no actual nudity.

The only real violence toward flesh and blood people is during his origin. He's obviously injured and people get smacked around on his escape, but the
only blood shown is his shirt turns red when he's hurt at the beginning, and the bad bald guy's head is bruised and red and painful looking after
having a rock wall blown on him. No gore, no language that I can remember. The vast bulk of violence is structural damage and armor on armor violence. I
took my 8 year old stepson on Friday and would see no problems taking any kid who could generally behave in a movie theater.

It's pretty tame, aside from the one anal scene.
I'm not givin' you attitude. I just want another drink.

That anal scene was only in the theater where Soy was .... and only if you looked at him in the back row.

thanks guy... i've taken my son (age 8) to see pretty much all of the other superhero movies in the past 2 years but for whatever reason this one seemed
more adult.. but i guess not!
either way it's probably not worse than Cloverfield his friend's dad let them watch. /sigh |

Certainly more tame than Cloverfield. "Cartoon" violence is a pretty apt description. People die, but not in a gorey fashion, and often
off-screen. As far as language goes, there may have been use of "ass" once or twice, but other than that the only thing I remember was a bad guy
saying "come here you little prick" to Iron Man towards the end.
